Your Guide to the Blue Angels Air Show 2026 on Pensacola Beach

If you can hear jet engines rattling your windows this week, you already know what's coming: the 2026 Pensacola Beach Air Show is here, and Saturday, July 18th is the big one. This year is extra special, too: we're celebrating the 80th anniversary of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and America's 250th birthday all in the same month! As a team that lives and works right here in Pensacola, we couldn't let this one pass without sharing everything you need to know to enjoy it like a local.

Whether you're headed to the beach with the family or just want to catch the flyover from your backyard, here's your cheat sheet.

What Time Does It Start?

The official show kicks off around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, with the Blue Angels themselves taking to the sky in the early afternoon. Pre-show flight demonstrations and civilian aerobatic acts — including the Red Bull Air Force Team and a Veterans Flight multiplane tribute formation — start warming up the crowd even earlier, so if you want the full experience, plan to be settled in well before 10:30 a.m.

Get There Early (We Mean It)

This is the golden rule of air show weekend: arrive stupid early. The Casino Beach parking lot — the closest lot to show center — has a history of filling up before sunrise on Saturday. If you're hoping to snag a spot there, you're looking at a pre-dawn arrival.

Once Casino Beach fills up, your best bet is parking at Park East or Park West and hopping the free trolley down to the show. The Santa Rosa Island Authority has expanded trolley and bus service for this year's anniversary show, so there will be extra capacity getting people back and forth. Just know that trolley stops along the access road (Grand Marlin, Quietwater Beach, the Boardwalk area) will be paused until 6 p.m. because of expected congestion, so plan your pickup spot accordingly.

If you'd rather skip the car altogether, the Pensacola Bay ferry is another great option, running from downtown Pensacola out to the beach with extended hours for the weekend.

Heads up for our Navarre neighbors: the southbound lanes of the Navarre Beach Bridge will close to traffic between 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday to help manage the crowd heading home, so build that into your evening plans.

What to Pack

Think sunrise-fishing-trip energy: it's going to be a long, hot, wonderful day on the sand. Bring:

• Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses (reapply often — Gulf sun is no joke in July)
• Plenty of water and snacks
• A beach umbrella or tent for shade (make sure it's secure. 😉 iykyk)
• Beach chairs or a blanket
• Cash and ID, just in case
• A cooler — but leave the glass containers at home, they're not allowed on the beach

A Few Important Rules

• No drones or kites once the show starts. This isn't a suggestion — flying one in restricted airspace can mean felony charges, and a spotted drone can actually halt the entire show until the airspace is clear again. Keep the skies clear so everyone gets to see the whole performance.
• Water activities close during the civilian acts and the Blue Angels' performance, so don't plan on swimming through the show itself.
• It's free! No tickets, no wristbands, no reservations needed — just show up and find your spot.

Where to Watch

Casino Beach, right around the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier, is show center and the best vantage point for the big maneuvers. Park East and Park West are solid secondary viewing spots if you're not up for the crowds at center stage. We recommend getting a spot at Fish Heads restaurant - they have seating that faces the beach and plenty of snacks and drinks to keep you fueled for the show. One thing to keep in mind: the show isn't visible from Fort Pickens or NAS Pensacola, so don't head that direction expecting a view.

Since we're celebrating 80 years of these incredible pilots, here are a few fun facts to share while you're waiting for that first flyover:

• The Blue Angels were formed in 1946, making them the second-oldest formal flying aerobatic team in the world.
• Their signature move, flying just 18 inches apart wingtip to wingtip during diamond formation, takes an extraordinary level of trust and precision between pilots.
• Pilots typically rotate off the team after two to three years, keeping a steady pipeline of Navy and Marine Corps aviators trained in the tradition.
• The team's iconic blue and gold color scheme is a nod to the University of California, Berkeley's school colors, an homage from the team's early days.
• Pensacola is home base — Forrest Sherman Field at NAS Pensacola is where the Blue Angels are actually stationed, which is a big part of why this show feels so personal to all of us here.
